Ecole Classique Student Serve-A-Thon is a semester of service by Ecole students. The students will be put into teams according to their classes, and each team will focus on a different project.
The Serve-A-Thon will be broken into two different semesters. For the first semester, the 11th and 12th-grade students will work to complete a project for the school. Our 5th-8th-grade students will also complete their project this semester. The 5th-8th grade will renovate several different gardens around the school. For the second semester, the 9th and 10th-grade students will design a project and work to create a fundraising goal.
The 11th and 12th-grade participants have chosen to renovate an outdoor area near the cafeteria, turning it into an outdoor lunch area for students. The area was home to our computer lab during the 90’s and early 2000’s but in the past decade, the add-on building was abandoned for classes and only used for storage. The goal for this area is to eventually be redesigned completely for outdoor use; and later, for the building to be completely demolished.
The 11th and 12th-grade students will work for the remainder of the school semester to raise funds to complete this project. Students will come up with fundraising ideas, as well as raise funds individually. As a reward, every $10 raised by each student will generate $2 in returns. The student who raises the most money will receive added perks at the end of the semester. We will keep an active total on each student’s progress. These incentives will be announced at a later date, but stay tuned!
This project teaches our students several different things: fundraising as a group, project management, accounting (as they will create project budgets), and teamwork. This is a brand-new project for our school, one that we hope to continue year after year!

The Sal J. Federico General Fund is the school’s overall annual fund. The fund is the school’s most important annual fundraising priority. It provides unrestricted funds that directly support the operating budget. The funds will be used for the Ecole Beautification project.
The students and their adult supervisors will spend the month designing a service idea and raising funds to complete that service project.
- The teams that complete their service project will be rewarded with free dress, free lunch, and a shortened day of school on presentation day.
- Each grade will have 1-2 teacher sponsors
- Key Club members will lead the project.
- Each team will meet once a week to go over their progress.
